Shamita Shetty was born to Surendra and Sunanda Shetty. Shamita dropped out from Sydenham College in Mumbai in the 11th standard to pursue a diploma course in Fashion designing from SNDT.She is the younger sister of Bollywood actress and 'Celebrity Big Brother' winner Shilpa Shetty.She got a break in a big budget Bollywood film Mohabbatein (2000). The movie was produced by Yash Chopra and was a super hit.She became very popular after the item songs in the movie Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai and Chori Pe Chori in Saathiya (2002) She is regarded as one of the hot young actresses in Indian Cinema and often referred to as an Item Girl. Her best performance till date has been in the 2005 hit Zeher.
